On December 21, 2024, Suraj Welfare and Charitable Society hosted its annual donation drive, "Kartavya – A Blanket of Warmth & Hope," in Vivekanand Camp, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. This year, over 250 blankets were distributed to underprivileged families, providing them with much-needed warmth and comfort during the harsh winter months.

The event brought together a compassionate community of volunteers, supporters, and distinguished guests, all working towards a common goal—making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need. The drive was honored by the presence of several prominent figures, including Dr. Nikhat Riyazi, a renowned educationist from Madhubani, Bihar; SHO Balihar Singh of the Chanakyapuri Police Station; and philanthropist Gaurav Grover, founder of the New Delhi Social Welfare Association. Their participation helped amplify the event’s message of unity and compassion, creating an atmosphere of togetherness and support.

The event was led by Yashika Shaikh, the founder of Suraj NGO, who expressed her gratitude to all those involved in the initiative. “Kartavya is more than just distributing blankets; it’s about spreading warmth, love, and hope,” said Yashika Shaikh. “Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it the most.”

Mr. Abhishek Kumar Singh, Pradhan and District Spokesman (BJP) of Karol Bagh District, and a resident of Vivekanand Camp, played a crucial role in coordinating with volunteers and ensuring the success of the drive. His efforts ensured a seamless experience for the beneficiaries, furthering the sense of community and collaboration.

Volunteers from Suraj NGO worked tirelessly throughout the event, ensuring that the distribution process was efficient and that each person received not only a blanket but also a feeling of care and solidarity. While the drive provided immediate relief to those facing the winter chill, it also underscored Suraj NGO’s long-term commitment to supporting underprivileged communities, ensuring they receive sustainable help year-round.

As the Kartavya drive continues to grow year after year, it has become more than just an event—it is a symbol of hope and compassion for vulnerable families in need. This year’s initiative was not just about providing blankets; it was about fostering a sense of unity, kindness, and support that extends beyond the winter months, ensuring that those in need know they are not alone. Suraj NGO’s Kartavya drive is an embodiment of the power of community, love, and a shared commitment to making the world a warmer, more compassionate place.
